Monthly Intra-Club Competition Overview
Image Competition is held prior to most monthly meetings unless special events, workshops, or other activities preempt the competition. The maximum number of entries by level is:
- Beginner - 2
- Intermediate - 2
- Advanced - 3
- Master - 4
There are three categories: Traditional, Enhanced and Monthly Topic.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it Requests for critique may be made from the Monday of the general meeting until Friday following the general meeting. The critique should be limited to a paragraph and include what is good about the image and how the photo could be improved. Critiques will be assigned on a rotation basis to one of the judges.
General rules that apply to images submitted for competition are:

All images used in competition must be the property of the member and must be photographs or combinations of photographs that were taken by the member. Other photographic material from other sources is not permitted to be used unless specified in a challenge topic.

The photographic image may not be a reproduction of another artist's work. The image entered must be the photographer's original work. If another work of art is visible in the photograph, it cannot be the central theme or message of the photograph.

All images must begin with a photograph. They may not be totally computer generated.

Members may only enter in one level.

| 5 |
Images may only be entered once in a given year (except for the year-end competition where they must be entered in the same level and category as originally entered). Images that don’t earn an award may be entered again the following year. Images that win any award may not be entered again.

Any beginner that has won 3 best of shows in a 12 month period must move up to the intermediate level. Any intermediate or advanced that has won 5 best of shows total in one or multiple categories in a 12 month period must move up one category.

If a member fails to win either a Best of Show or Award of Merit in the following 6 months for which they have entries, they may request al level adjustment. Requests should be sent to

Any first time contestant may choose the level to enter, but may not move down in levels once they have entered a competition unless they qualify to do so under rule 7.

Student members may only enter in the beginner level. To enter in Intermediate or Advanced, the student must become a full member.

By entering images in the competition the photographer gives Loveland Photographic Society non-exclusive right to use the image for purposes related to promotion of the Loveland Photographic Society and for benefit of the members. For example: these images may be used in slide shows or other presentations to the members and to outside parties for the purpose of promoting the Loveland Photographic Society.
