Mission:

The primary objective of the Secretary is to be the record keeper for the Society. The Secretary holds a voting position on the Loveland Photographic Society (LPS) Board of Directors, and should make every effort to attend all board meetings (six scheduled per year: first Tuesday of odd months) to help direct the club in the decision making process.

Basic Duties: (The Secretary)

  1. Keeps minutes of all board meetings.
  2. Delegates record keeping of all competitions, committees and events, and compiles any records that are presented to the board.
  3. Notifies the chairs and/or membership of special events that are brought to the board.
  4. Checks to insure that all club calendars are current. (Website, Newsletter)
  5. Facilitates correspondence with outside organizations.
  6. Gives regular reports to the board of directors.
  7. Solicits the board, chairs and members of the Society for agenda items to be discussed at bimonthly board meetings, and emails the agenda to the board for approval prior to each meeting. The President will present the agenda to the board.

Time Commitment:

There is no set time commitment. It is generally acknowledged that the Secretary will attend all general meetings and all board meetings whenever possible. The Vice President will assume these duties whenever the Secretary is unavailable.

Benefits:

Good record keeping will help the Society track the benefits of Board decisions to better plan for the future. Personal benefits include getting to know other members while furthering personal interests in the field of photography.
