Mission:
The primary objective of the Scholarship Chair is to search for a deserving senior at one of the area High Schools that intends to pursue a career in Photography, and supply them with a monetary stipend. Although the Scholarship Chair does not hold a voting position on the Loveland Photographic Society (LPS) Board of Directors, the chairperson should make every effort to attend all board meetings (six scheduled per year: first Tuesday of odd months) to help direct the club in the decision making process.
Basic Duties:
- To contact each schools Art and Photography teacher to solicit candidates for a scholarship.
- To enlist help from other members when needed.
- To make the selection of one deserving senior for this scholarship.
Time Commitment:
There is about a 4 – 5 month time commitment (Dec. – April). The committee must produce a questionnaire to be filed out by the seniors applying for this scholarship; as well as submitting two photos and an essay on why they wish to pursue Photography.
Benefits:
To encourage the younger generation to pursue photography as a career.
